The Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical Hadestown is set to return to London’s West End in 2024. The production will play at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, from 10 February to 10 September 2024.
Hadestown is a genre-defying musical that tells the story of two mythic love stories: that of Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone. The show is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the gods have abandoned humanity, and it features a blend of folk, jazz, and blues music.
Hadestown first premiered at the National Theatre in London in 2018, and it went on to win eight Tony Awards on Broadway in 2019, including Best Musical. The show has also been a critical and commercial success around the world, and it is currently touring the United States.
Hadestown features music, lyrics, and book by Anaïs Mitchell, a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, and direction by Tony Award-winner Rachel Chavkin. Tickets are going on sale from 23 May 2023, at 12 pm.
