Aston Merrygold will join the UK tour cast of Footloose the Musical. He will perform the role of Willard in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Wimbledon from the 25th July 2022. Aston will be taking over the role following Jake Quickenden’s departure.
The critically acclaimed tour opened in February this year and will continue through to August 2022.
Aston Merrygold is best known for being part of the hit boyband JLS. He has also appeared on The Masked Singer and Got To Dance.

Additional casting remains including Darren Day as Reverend Moore with Lucy Munden as Ariel. Also including Oonagh Cox as Rusty, Anna Westlake as Lulu and Alex Fobbester as Bickle. Additionally, Ben Barrow as Wes, Ben Mabberley as Jeter and Geri Allen as Ethel. In addition to, Holly Ashton as Vi, Jess Barker as Wendy-Jo and Joshua Hawkins as Ren. Finally, Samantha Richards as Urleen, Tom Mussell as Chuck and Daniel Miles and Lucy Ireland as off-stage swings.
The show is based on the iconic 1980s film of the same name and has casting by Debbie O’Brien and direction by Racky Plews. More creative team include, choreography from Matt Cole, musical supervision by Mark Crossland and design by Sara Perks. Lighting design is from Chris Davey and sound design is from Chris Whybrow.
