Bring It On Musical Tour Cancelled

Bring It On Musical Tour Cancelled
Written by Bethany Unwin

Bring It On Musical Tour has been cancelled. The tour started in December and set to show at venues all around the UK and Ireland; before heading to London’s West End.

The musical Bring It On, is based on the hit film of the same name. The show has a score by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tom Kitt. With lyrics by Miranda and Amanda Green. Book is by Jeff Whitty. After originally opening in the US, it went on to be nominated for a number of Tony Awards. Appearing in the tour were Louis Smith (Olympic gymnast) and Amber Davies (Love Island and West End Star).

Due to the rising covid-19 cases, resulting in 13 cancelled performances, the tour can no longer run. The loss of income for the production during the cancellations, means the funds to continue the tour are insufficient.

Selladoor Worldwide have released this statement:

Cancelling 13 performances has resulted in an overwhelming loss of income, for the production, during a peak period that would otherwise have provided a vital financial backbone of the tour. This lost income, amounting to hundreds of thousands of pounds, has sadly rendered the remainder of the tour financially unsustainable.”

Selladoor then went on to say, “they have not taken this decision likely” and they “explored every possible alternative to avoid cancellation“. Also adding, “We are heartbroken that we have been forced into this position, but the impact of these cancellations caused by Omicron have left us with no other choice.”

However, the cancellations will not involve the run at the Southbank Centre. The show will therefore conclude its run on 22 January 2022 in London.

We send the cast and crew our sympathy regarding the tour cancellation. We hope you have a great run at the Southbank Centre.
