Casting announced for Gatsby: The Musical playing at the Southwark Playhouse

Casting has been announced for Gatsby: The Musical playing at the Southwark Playhouse. The production will run from the 8th December 2021 – 8th January 2022.

Casting for Gatsby: The Musical: Leading on the stage as Daisy Buchanan will be Jodie Steele (Heathers; Six: The Musical) who tells the story through Daisy’s eyes. Jay Gatsby will be played by Ross William (Wild Spandau Ballet; Million Dollar Quartet) while Luke Bayer (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie; Rent) takes the role of Nick Carraway. In addition to Bradley Clarkson (Dreamcoats & Petticoats) as Tom Buchanan, Robert Grose (Kinky Boots) as Woolfe, and Julie Yammanee (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as Myrtle Wilson. Also featuring Juan Lobo (In the Heights) will play George Wilson, with Freddie Love (Carmen) as Jordan Baker and Oliver Mawdsley (Miss Nightingale) as Owl Eyes. Finally Tristan Pegg and Ash Weir will be Ensemble/Cover.

Gatsby: The Musical is written and directed by Linnie Reedman, the show features music by Joe Evans, with arrangements and orchestrations by Henry Brennan. Musical direction is by Victoria Calver, with choreography by Chris Whittaker and associate choreography by Marcus J Foreman. Furthermore, lighting design is by Dominic Warwick, with set design by Isabella Van Braeckel and costume design by Belle Mundi.

This production by Ruby in the Dust‘s Theatre company gives fresh understanding of characters and a story told through Daisy’s eyes. The production is made compellingly resonant with the Roaring Twenties we find ourselves in once again.
