Chess The Musical in concert has announced its full casting! The musical will be playing at Theatre Royal Drury Lane on the 1st and 2nd August, with an additional Matinee performance on the 2nd. The first announced date has sold out!
The cast for Chess The Musical concert include Samantha Barks (Frozen) as Florence, Hadley Fraser (2:22 A Ghost Story) as Anatoly and Joel Harper-Jackson (Cock, Kinky Boots) as Freddie. In addition to, Frances Mayli McCann (Bonnie and Clyde, Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour) as Svetlana, Ako Mitchell (Caroline Or Change, The Colour Purple) as The Arbiter and Craige Els (Matilda the Musical, The Imitation Game) as Molokov.
Completing the ensemble is Joshua Robinson who will join Joseph Craig and Darius J James. Also featuring, Aoife Kenny, Jessica Lee and Nick Len. Additionally, Natasha May-Thomas, Alice Readie and Stuart Rouse. Lastly, Phoebe Samuel-Gray, Grant Thresh and Libby Watts.
The musical has music by ABBA’s Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus and with lyrics by Tim Rice. It follows a competitive chess rivalry in the height of the cold war.
The creative team includes, Director and Choreographer Nick Winston and Associate Director and Choreographer Alexzandra Sarmiento. In addition to, Musical Director Freddie Tapner, Designer Ruth Sutcliffe and Lighting Designer Ben Cracknell. Sound Designer is Tom Marshall, Video Projection Designer is Duncan McLean and Casting Director Harry Blumenau. Finally, Assistant Director & Choreographer Tara Young.
