Amazon Prime has announced a release date for the highly anticipated movie of Everybody’s talking about Jamie film! It will be released on the 17th September 2021, on Amazon Prime.
The adaptation of the stage show will see a new star, that everybody will be talking about. Max Harwood in the title role, followed by Lauren Patel as Pritti Pasha. Richard E Grant plays Hugo / Loco Chanelle and Sarah Lancashire as Jamie’s mum Margaret.
Other members of the film include: Shobna Gulati, who plays Margret’s best friends Ray (who also appeared in the stage show). Sharon Horgan takes on the role of Jamie’s teacher Miss Hedge. Also featuring Ralph Ineson as Jamie’s dad, Wayne. Samuel Bottomley plays Dean Paxton, Ramzan Miah as Zayn and John McCrea (The original Jamie New from the stage show), will play the Young Loco Chanelle.
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie film returns Jonathan Butterell as director, having directed the stage show. With screenplay and lyrics by Tom MacRae and score by Dan Gillespie Sells and Anne Dudley. Cinematographer is by Christopher Ross.
The film follows Jamie New, a teenager from Sheffield, who dreams of life on stage. His dream to become a drag queen leads him to the local drag legend Miss Loco Chanelle, who mentors him toward his debut stage performance. Along his journey Jamie is met with unsupportive, uninspiring and ignorant people. Watch as Jamie and his community overcome the prejudice and shine in the spotlight.
