Matilda musical film trailer has been released. The film is set for release on 22nd of December of 2022. The iconic stage show, based on Roald Dahl’s book of the same name, is written by Dennis Kelly. With music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and direction by Matthew Warchus.
Matilda is a magical girl who uses her skills to help those around her. However, challenging parents and a despicable headteacher Miss Trunchbull, have other plans.
Alisha Weir (Darklands) will take on the lead role in the 2022 flick based on the stage production. Starring alongside her will be Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die) as Miss Honey and Emma Thompson (Love, Actually) as Miss Trunchbull. Also adding to the cast are Stephen Graham (Line of Duty) and Andrea Riseborough (The Death of Stalin) as Mr and Mrs Wormwood. Furthermore, comedian Sindhu Vee will play librarian Mrs Phelps.
In addition, Charlie Hodson-Prior (Bruce Bogtrotter), Meesha Garbett (Hortensia), Rei Yamauchi Fulker (Lavender), Winter Jarrett Glasspool (Amanda Thripp), Andrei Shen (Eric) and Ashton Robertson (Nigel) round out the cast.
It is will be released theatrically in the UK by Sony Pictures. However, a streamed release is set via Netflix. It will be released in cinemas in the UK on 22 December 2022. Coupled with the Netflix release set for the same month everywhere else.
