Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures have announced casting for The Car Man in a spectacular new staging for the Royal Albert Hall‘s 150th Anniversary. The production will take place from the 9th – 19th June 2022.

Bourne’s dance-thriller is based on Bizet’s beloved CarmenThe Car Man completely reimagined for the legendary arena of the Royal Albert Hall. You can expect a rush of danger as the dancers perform throughout the auditorium. Featuring stage designs is by Olivier and Tony award-winner Lez Brotherston.

The 14 performances will feature an expanded company of 65 dancers and musicians, a live orchestra and epic new designs. This will be the first time New Adventures performs a full production at this historic and iconic venue. 

Cast of The Car Man at the Royal Albert Hall

The title role of ‘Luca, The Car Man’ will be played by Will Bozier and Richard Winsor, with the role of ‘Lana’ being danced by Ashley Shaw and Zizi Strallen. Additionally, ‘Angelo’ will shared by Paris Fitzpatrick and Dominic North, with ‘Rita’, Lana’s older sister, performed by Kayla Collymore and Kate Lyons. ‘Dino’, Lana’s violent husband, will be played by Alan Vincent.

Completing the cast will be Jonathon Luke Baker (Franco), Benjamin Barlow Bazeley (Fabio), Alistair Beattie (Marcello) and Stephanie Billers (Delores). Also including, Isaac Peter Bowry (Elio), Cordelia Braithwaite (Mercedes), Ben Brown (Ricardo) and Reece Causton (Dirk). In addition to Jade Copas (Natalie), Harrison Dowzell (Rocco), Cameron Flynn (Roberto) and Rose Goddard (Sophia). Additionally, Glenn Graham (Bruno), Bryony Harrison (Frankie), Shoko Ito (Elisabetta) and Monique Jonas (Bianca). Also featuring, Nicole Kabera (Gina), Kurumi Kamayachi (Silvana), Katrina Lyndon (Monica) and Rory Macleod (Marco). Also including, Andrew Monaghan (Vito), Stephen Murray (Chad), Harry Ondrak-Wright (Lorenzo) and Edwin Ray (Alberto). In addition to, Danny Reubens (Hot Rod), Sam Salter (Raf) and Gabrielle de Souza (Giulietta). Finally, Catrin Thomas (Claudia), Christopher Thomas (Ugo) and Bryony Wood (Elsa).

Full daily principal casting for the Royal Albert Hall season will post on Tuesday 10 May.

The Car Man directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne, with music by Terry Davies & Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite (after Bizet’s Carmen). Set design is by Lez Brotherston with lighting by Chris Davey and sound by Paul Groothius
