Rita Ora joins Beauty and the Beast musical prequel series

Rita Ora has joined the cast of Disney+’s upcoming Beauty and the Beast prequel series.

The pop star will share the screen with Josh Gad and Luke Evans in the show. The pair reprise their roles of LeFou and Gaston from the live-action movie from 2017.

The story is set years before Gaston set his sights on Belle, we follow him and LeFou as they team up with the latter’s stepsister, Tilly, played by Briana Middleton, to investigate a surprising revelation from her past. The show will also feature Fra Fee and Jelani Alladin. Production will begin in the spring of this year.

Rita Ora role in Beauty and the Beast will be “a fugitive with surprising abilities”, who could affect a whole kingdom.

Alan Menken, who created tunes for the original Beauty and the Beast, will executive produce and pen tunes. Glenn Slater will be writing lyrics for the first episode.

Beauty and the Beast will be an eight part series on Disney+. Gad, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz will be the show-runners. Also including, Tony Award-nominated director Liesl Tommy, who will direct the first episode.
