The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe have announced its full cast ahead of its West End premiere! The show will play at the Gillian Lynne Theatre from 18th July 2022. The show will play a strictly limited season until 8th January 2023.

The story follows Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter as they step through the wardrobe into the magical kingdom of Narnia. They wave goodbye to wartime Britain and say hello to a talking Faun, an unforgettable Lion and the coldest, cruellest White Witch. CS Lewis’ 1950 novel has sold 85 million copies in 60 languages, and is one of the top ten best-selling books of all time.

Already announced Samantha Womack will play the role of the White Witch. She is joined by the original tour cast members Ammar Duffus as Peter and Shaka Kalokoh as Edmund. Robyn Sinclair will play Susan and newcomer Delainey Hayles as Lucy.

Other cast members reprising their roles are: Scott Brooks as Mr Pope and Fox Trot and Rachel Dawson as Miss Chutney, Blue Badger and Spirit of the Moon. Oliver Grant will play Mr Wilson, Schrodinger, Red Squirrel, Head Cruel, Aslan Puppeteer and Resident Director. Additionally, Chris Jared as Aslan and Matthew James Hinchliffe as Mr Marsden, Mauve Mole and Music Captain. Shaun McCourt will play Mr Granville, Jack Rabbit, Aslan Puppeteer and Puppet Captain. Also including, Christina Tedders as Mrs Beaver and Jez Unwin as Mr Tumnus. Johnson Willis will play Professor Kirk, Father Christmas, Wise Owl and White Mouse.

New to the production are Myla Carmen as Swing, Jasmin Colangelo as Swing/Dance Captain and Julian Hoult as Mr Beaver. In addition to, Ashlee Irish as Swing, Sean Lopeman as Mr Brinkworth and March Hare as Aslan Puppeteer. Also featuring, Micha Richardson as Mrs Pevensie and Robin, Ciaran Roger as Swing, and Charlotte-Kate Warren as Miss Gumley Warmly and Phoenix. Still to be cast are Maugrim, Solider, Satyr and White Stag.

Creative Team

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is directed by Michael Fentiman with set and costume design by Tom Paris. Also featuring, Composers Benji Bower and Barnaby Race join choreographer Shannelle ‘Tali’ Fergus and lighting designer Jack Knowles. More creative team include, sound designers Ian Dickinson and Gareth Tucker for Autograph, puppetry director Toby Olié and puppetry designer Max Humphries. Additionally, Gwen Hales is the aerial director and Chris Fisher is the illusionist. Music director is Toby Higgins and casting director is Will Burton CDG. Fight director is Jonathan Holby and wigs, hair and make-up designer Susanna Peretz. Lastly, props supervisor Lizzie Frankl for Propworks, dramaturg Adam Peck and movement consultant Dan Canham.

Director Michael Fentiman said: “I’m delighted to be bringing our production of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe to the Gillian Lynne Theatre. The production celebrates the magic of live theatre and is led by a multi-talented cast of actors, singers, musicians, dancers and puppeteers; it is a celebration of the possibilities of the collective imagination and the boundless wonders of individual skill. 

“This story, about a community battling hardship in the darkest of winters, who together find freedom again in the light of summer, couldn’t be more pertinent for these times.”
