The stage production of C.S. Lewis’ classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which recently toured the UK and Ireland, will make its West End premiere this summer at the Gillian Lynne Theatre.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will begin performances on the 18th July 2022. The show will play a strictly limited season until 8th January 2023.

The show will star Samantha Womack as the White Witch. Full casting to be announced soon.

The story follows Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter as they step through the wardrobe into the magical kingdom of Narnia. Join them as they wave goodbye to wartime Britain and say hello to a talking Faun, an unforgettable Lion and the coldest, cruellest White Witch.

Creative Team for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe directed by Michael Fentiman, is based on the original production by Sally Cookson.

Fentiman said: “The production celebrates the magic of live theatre and is led by a multi-talented cast of actors, singers, musicians, dancers and puppeteers; it is a celebration of the possibilities of the collective imagination and the boundless wonders of individual skill. This story, about a community battling hardship in the darkest of winters, who together find freedom again in the light of summer, couldn’t be more pertinent for these times.”

The production has set and costume design by Tom Paris and composition by Benji Bower & Barnaby Race. Additionally, choreography by Shannelle ‘Tali’ Fergus, lighting by Jack Knowles and sound by Ian Dickinson and Gareth Tucker for Autograph. Also including, Puppetry direction is by Toby Olié, puppetry design is by Max Humphries and illusions by Chris Fisher. Lastly, musical direction is by Toby Higgins, fight director by Jonathan Holby and wigs, hair and make-up is Susanna Peretz.
