It has been announced that the upcoming movie adaptation of hit musical Wicked will now be presented in two parts!
Director Jon M Chu has confirmed the film version of the iconic musical will now come in two parts.
In a statement from Chu, he said that the project will now be able to provide “more depth and surprise” by playing it out on a “bigger canvas”. He also said that it would detrimental to the show to cram everything into one film as it would involve “fatal compromises”.
The first film will be released in December 2024 and the second, a year later in December 2025.
Wicked movie will star Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
