The famous Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has unveiled its 90th anniversary season.
Legally Blonde Musical
The season will commence with a new revival of the hit musical Legally Blonde. The show will be running from the 13th May to the 2nd July 2022.
Legally Blonde has music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, book by Heather Hach, and is based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture. It tells the story of a young woman, Elle Woods, who overcomes social expectations in order to become a successful Harvard Law School graduate.
The new revival creative team include: Six co-creator Lucy Moss as the director. Pippa Ailion CDG and Natalie Gallacher CDG for Pippa Ailion Casting as casting directors. In addition to Cat Beveridge as musical supervisor, Tony Gayle as sound designer and Ellen Kane will be the choreographer.
101 Dalmatians
Previously postponed due to the pandemic, the new musical 101 Dalmatians will follow from 12th July – 28th August 2022. Based on Dodie Smith’s story with music and lyrics by Douglas Hodge and book by Johnny McKnight.
The creative team for 101 Dalmatians include: Sheader as the director. Jill Green CDG is the casting director, with Tash Holway as assistant choreographer. Also including Howard Hudson with lighting design and Nick Lidster with Autograph as the sound designer. Katrina Lindsay with is on costume design, In addition to, Tarek Merchant will be the musical director with Verity Naughton CDG and Nick Hockaday, Verity Naughton Casting for the children’s casting directors. Toby Olié will be the puppetry designer and director, with Colin Richmond on set design. Finally, Liam Steel is the choreographer and Sarah Travis is musical supervisor and orchestrator.
Antigone
Completing the season will be a modern retelling of Antigone, penned by Inua Ellams and directed by Max Webster (Life of Pi). This show will run from the 3rd September to the 24th September.
Telling the story of a torn family in a hostile state, the piece’s creative team include: Carrie-Anne Ingrouille as the choreographer and Polly Jerrold is the Casting Director. Also including, Emma Laxton is the sound designer, with Shez Manzoor as the composer and Khadija Raza on costume design. Lastly, Leslie Travers will be the set designer and Jo Tyabji is the associate director.
Creatives supporting the overall season at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre are Shanaé Chisholm, the casting assistant, Barbara Houseman, voice and text director and Ingrid Mackinnon with intimacy support.
Public bookings open on 7th December 2021, with member booking opening 16th November 2021.
